After searching for a space that would be able to house the needs of the studio’s growth since its beginning in 1988, we moved into a quickly gentrifying area in West Los Angeles. Located on a main street where a law firm, restaurant, and convenient store all exist within close proximity to each other, we transformed an existing 4,500 square feet scuba shop into a contemporary, open-plan workspace filled with natural light. Paying homage to the building’s history, hints of the scuba shop still exist as the signage remains outside in addition to the exposed concrete floors, brick walls, and ceiling beams which give the space a nod to its history. This interior renovation project includes the addition of a library, kitchen, model shop, conference rooms, print room, and studio space. The open space invites collaboration of ideas and the exchange of creativity to flow freely for the team and we feel quite at home here.
